Paris Design Season Kicks Off with Maison&Objet
Paris has become the center of the design world with the start of its key event season. Tickets are now available for Maison&Objet Paris, which focuses on innovative minimalism and tactile comfort. The city is also hosting the 69th Salon de Montrouge for contemporary art and a series of professional conferences for artists and collectors at the Grand Palais.
- The overarching theme for this year's Maison&Objet is "Past Reveals Future," with curated trends exploring concepts like creative upcycling ("Metamorphosis"), the fusion of organic materials with technology ("Mutation"), reinvented opulence ("Recomposed Baroque"), and digitally reimagined traditions ("Neo-Folklore"). - Russian-born architect and artist Harry Nuriev has been named Designer of the Year for Maison&Objet 2026; his work is guided by a manifesto he calls "Transformism," which focuses on reimagining everyday objects into collectible design pieces. - As a parallel event, "Maison&Objet in the City" provides a B2B experience by curating a trail of 100 design-centric destinations throughout Paris, including showrooms, galleries, and artisans' workshops. - The 69th Salon de Montrouge is highly selective, featuring 40 emerging artists chosen from a pool of over 2,000 applicants. The international roster of artists hails from 15 different countries, including Iran, Uruguay, Canada, and Sri Lanka. - In a move to support emerging talent, each of the 40 artists selected for the Salon de Montrouge will receive a €1,000 grant, a measure supported by the French Ministry of Culture to acknowledge their work. - The conferences at the Grand Palais are part of Art Capital, an event that brings four historic art fairs together under one roof from February 13-15. - One of the professional conferences at the Grand Palais, held within the 236th Salon des Artistes Français, features Thomas Micaletto, founder of the Troisième Rive Agency, speaking on "Building Your Online Reputation Among Art Enthusiasts."
