Husqvarna Expands Cordless Tool Line
Husqvarna is expanding its battery-powered tool offerings with the release of a new compact power cutter. The launch underscores the industry-wide shift towards more portable and quieter solutions for masonry, hardscaping, and landscaping projects in residential settings.
- The new tool is the Husqvarna K 540i, a battery-powered power cutter with a 10.5-inch blade that provides a maximum cutting depth of 3.94 inches. It is designed to be lightweight, weighing just 9.19 lbs, for better balance and user comfort. - A key safety feature of the K 540i is the X-Haltâ„¢ brake function, which can stop the blade's rotation in a fraction of a second. This model is suitable for both wet and dry cutting applications. - This power cutter is part of Husqvarna's BLi-X 36V battery ecosystem, allowing professionals to swap batteries among a range of Husqvarna tools. A single charge is designed to last approximately as long as one tank of gas in a comparable gas-powered tool. - Compared to traditional gas-powered cutters, battery-powered models like the K 540i produce zero direct emissions, operate with significantly less noise, and have lower vibrations, reducing strain on the operator. This makes them ideal for use in residential areas or enclosed spaces. - The shift to cordless tools is driven by major advancements in lithium-ion battery technology and the efficiency of brushless motors. These technologies now allow battery-powered equipment to meet or exceed the performance of their gas-powered counterparts for many applications. - Husqvarna also offers a more powerful battery cutter, the K 1 PACE, which accommodates larger 12-inch or 14-inch blades, for more heavy-duty jobs, indicating a broader strategy to replace gas-powered tools across different performance tiers.
