South Carolina Baseball Dominates Princeton
The Gamecocks put up a season-high in runs and beat Princeton 13-1 in a seven-inning game, completing a series sweep behind strong pitching and timely hitting. Oklahoma also finished strong with a 76-72 road win over Texas, while Iowa fell 84-75 in overtime to No. 9 Nebraska to close their regular season at 20-11.
The 13-1 victory was fueled by a 15-hit offensive explosion from the Gamecocks. Will Craddock and Logan Sutter led the charge with three hits each, while Talmadge LeCroy drove in four runs, thanks to the team's first grand slam of the season in a six-run fifth inning. Sutter and Tyler Bak also contributed three RBIs apiece. Starting pitcher Amp Phillips had a strong outing to earn the win, improving his record to 2-1 on the year. Over five innings, Phillips struck out seven batters and allowed only one run on four hits and two walks. The bullpen continued the dominant performance, with Hudson Lee and Zach Russell each pitching a scoreless inning to close out the game. This win secured a three-game series sweep for South Carolina over Princeton and marked their fifth consecutive victory. During this winning streak, the Gamecocks' offense has been on fire, posting a collective .356 batting average. The sweep improved South Carolina's overall record to 12-5. The series was a tough one for the Princeton Tigers, who were outscored significantly in all three games. The losses dropped their season record to a difficult 2-8. The lopsided scores highlighted the gap between the two programs in this early-season matchup. Following their successful homestand, the Gamecocks will hit the road for their next four games. Their next contest is a short trip to Charleston to face The Citadel on Tuesday night.
