VIAVI to Showcase AI and 6G Solutions at MWC

VIAVI Solutions announced it will showcase over 30 demonstrations at the upcoming MWC Barcelona conference. The company's focus will be on core solutions for the AI era, including AI data centers, AIOps, and AI-RAN, as well as emerging 6G technologies.

- VIAVI's NITRO AIOps platform is a core part of its strategy, aiming to enable a "Dark NOC" (Network Operations Center) where AI and machine learning systems handle network management and predictive maintenance with minimal human intervention. - A key feature being shown is the Network Digital Twin capability within the NITRO Wireless portfolio, which allows operators to emulate a network in the lab to test software updates and new services in a safe environment before live deployment. - In its 6G research, VIAVI is exploring the use of the Terahertz (THz) spectrum for new sensing applications and has developed energy-efficient neuromorphic receivers based on Spiking Neural Networks (SNN) that consume approximately 90% less power than traditional AI-based receivers. - The company's AI-powered tools are used to train the RAN Intelligent Controller (RIC), using data from real network scenarios to test and validate applications that can improve the efficiency of the radio access network. - VIAVI is involved in multiple 6G research collaborations, including projects focused on 3D RAN digital twins and semantic communication, through its "6G Forward" program which partners with academic institutions like Northeastern University and the University of Surrey. - The company demonstrated its NITRO Wireless platform at the India Mobile Congress in New Delhi, indicating its engagement with the Indian telecommunications and tech ecosystem. - At MWC, the company is conducting joint demonstrations with over 20 partners, including Ericsson, VMware, and NEC, showcasing the use of its Geolocation rApp on the Ericsson Intelligent Automation Platform and its RIC Testbed As A Service with VMware. - For disaggregated networks, VIAVI provides specific Open RAN security solutions that include test coverage for 3GPP Security Assurance Specification (SCAS) compliance, denial-of-service (DoS) and fuzzing attacks, and O-Cloud resource exhaustion.
