Biden Slams Trump's SOTU Length

Biden criticized Trump's lengthy State of the Union for ignoring Ukraine invasion anniversary, Epstein victims, and ICE killings, saying there's 'something wrong with this guy.' The former president's critique focused on what he saw as Trump's misplaced priorities during the address.

Donald Trump's 2026 State of the Union address clocked in at approximately 1 hour and 48 minutes, setting a new record for the longest in modern history. The average length for a State of the Union address from 1964 to 2025 was 56 minutes and 24 seconds. This address surpassed the previous record held by Bill Clinton's 2000 speech, which lasted nearly an hour and a half. The speech coincided with the fourth anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, a topic Trump did not mention. In the days leading up to the address, Trump's administration had signaled a significant shift in U.S. foreign policy, engaging in peace talks with Moscow without Ukrainian involvement and the U.S. voting with Russia against a UN resolution condemning the invasion. Also unmentioned were the victims of Jeffrey Epstein, some of whom were in the gallery during the speech. In the months prior, as new files related to Epstein were released, Trump dismissed the focus on the case as a "Democrat hoax" and a distraction. He had previously acknowledged that Epstein had "stolen" young women who worked at his Mar-a-Lago spa. The address also omitted any mention of two recent fatal shootings by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in Minneapolis. The victims were identified as Renee Good and Alex Pretti. In response to the incidents, Trump had stated the individuals were not "angels" but that he was not happy about what happened. His administration's official narrative, however, has been contradicted by video evidence.
