ARC Raiders March Update
ARC Raiders, the sci-fi extraction shooter from Embark Studios, kicked off March with a new patch across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. While no new content was added, the update delivers bug fixes and gameplay adjustments addressing community feedback.
The studio behind ARC Raiders, Embark Studios, was founded in Stockholm in 2018 by former executives from DICE, the creators of the *Battlefield* series. This team of industry veterans, including former EA Chief Design Officer Patrick Söderlund, aimed to combine an indie mindset with AAA-level ambition. Originally announced at The Game Awards in 2021, ARC Raiders was a cooperative-only, free-to-play third-person shooter. However, during development, the game evolved into a player-versus-player-versus-environment (PvPvE) extraction shooter, a significant shift from its initial concept. The game is set in a post-apocalyptic future where humanity has been forced underground by a hostile robotic force known as ARC. Players, known as Raiders, venture to the surface to scavenge for resources, battling both the ARC machines and other human players in a high-stakes fight for survival and loot. Embark Studios has referred to the game as an "extraction adventure," highlighting its blend of tension from the extraction shooter genre with the atmospheric exploration of adventure games. The game is built on Unreal Engine 5 and was released on October 30, 2025, after a series of public playtests.
