WoW Midnight Chapter Live

World of Warcraft's "Midnight" chapter launched March 3 as the new installment in the Worldsoul Saga. Players face heightened stakes in Azeroth with fresh storylines and challenges as Xal'atath escalates the conflict. Blizzard continues pushing substantial content drops to evolve the WoW universe.

"Midnight" is the second installment of the three-part Worldsoul Saga, a narrative arc that began with "The War Within" in 2024 and will conclude with "The Last Titan." This trilogy marks a shift for the game toward more interconnected, long-form storytelling. The antagonist, Xal'atath, was first introduced to players during the "Legion" expansion as a sentient void entity bound within a shadow priest artifact weapon. After freeing herself by possessing an elven body, she now serves as the Harbinger of the Void, aiming to corrupt Azeroth's world-soul. The expansion introduces a long-requested player housing system, allowing players to acquire and customize personal homes in Azeroth. Another new feature is "Prey," an outdoor progression system where players hunt down unique boss monsters for cosmetic rewards, mounts, and housing items. Players can now advance to a new level cap of 90. The update also adds the Haranir as a new playable allied race and introduces the "Devourer," a Void-themed, mid-range damage specialization for the Demon Hunter class. The story is primarily set in the elven kingdom of Quel'Thalas, which has been significantly updated. This includes a completely rebuilt Silvermoon City and the transformation of the Ghostlands zone into the revitalized Eversong Woods. At launch, "Midnight" includes eight new dungeons and three raids. The first season of content, which will unlock higher difficulty raids and Mythic+ dungeons, is scheduled to begin on March 17.
