Hadrian Opens $200M AI-Powered Factory in Arizona

Hadrian has opened a $200 million AI-powered factory in Mesa, Arizona, which will create over 350 advanced manufacturing jobs. The facility is designed to strengthen U.S. aerospace and defense supply chains. It exemplifies the convergence of embedded automation, robotics, and AI in modern manufacturing.

- The Mesa plant, known as Factory 3, spans 290,000 square feet and was brought from lease signing to production in approximately five and a half months. It complements Hadrian's existing 100,000-square-foot factory in Torrance, California. - Hadrian's founder and CEO, Chris Power, previously established ADSC, a private equity firm that focused on acquiring companies within the aerospace and defense supply chains. - The company has raised a total of $625 million over eight funding rounds, with key investors including Lux Capital, Founders Fund, and Andreessen Horowitz. Its latest funding round valued the company at $1.6 billion. - Hadrian employs a "factory-as-a-service" model, which includes embedding fully autonomous, AI-driven production cells directly within a partner's facility, such as the one at Lockheed Martin's Missiles and Fire Control site. - The company's proprietary software stack, "Opus," is designed to get factories online within six months by automating workflows, optimizing tool paths, and managing quality control. This software pairs engineers with manufacturing veterans to systematize expert knowledge. - To address the industry's aging workforce, Hadrian's technology allows one person to do the job of ten, enabling new employees to become effective within 30 days. - In addition to the Mesa factory, Hadrian is searching for a 400,000-square-foot corporate and R&D headquarters and has launched a maritime division to focus on shipbuilding and naval defense. - The company's expansion is part of a broader trend to strengthen the U.S. aerospace and defense supply chain, supported by government initiatives like the National Defense Industrial Strategy and the Defense Production Act.
