The NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament begins March 18, 2026, with the championship game scheduled for April 5 at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Duke is currently holding the No. 1 overall seed, but needs to win the ACC Tournament to secure it. Michigan could steal the top spot by winning the Big Ten Tournament and hoping for a Duke loss. Several teams have already clinched automatic bids by winning their conference tournaments, including Long Island, High Point, Northern Iowa, Queens, Tennessee State, and North Dakota State. Stanford is among the last four teams projected to make the tournament. Conversely, teams like Auburn, New Mexico, and Virginia Tech are on the outside looking in. These teams will need strong performances in their conference tournaments to improve their chances of receiving an at-large bid.
