Travis Scott Lawsuit

Travis Scott, SZA, and Future can't dismiss the lawsuit over their 2023 collab “Telekinesis” Travis Scott, SZA, and Future Unable to Dismiss Lawsuit Over "Telekinesis".

Victory Boyd, a Roc Nation artist, claims Travis Scott, SZA, and Future copied her song "Like the Way It Sounds" for their track "Telekinesis". She alleges that she shared her song with Kanye West in 2019, and that Scott, a frequent collaborator of West, likely became aware of her work then. Scott, SZA, and Future sought to dismiss the case, arguing Boyd falsely claimed sole authorship of the demo. They stated she only wrote the lyrics, while Kanye West handled the rest. However, a New York federal judge rejected their request. The judge did limit potential financial damages, noting Boyd didn't copyright "Like the Way It Sounds" until after "Telekinesis" was released. Boyd's lawyer stated they are excited to move to the next phase of litigation. The lawsuit also names Cactus Jack Records, Epic Records, Sony Music Entertainment, and Audemars Piguet as defendants.
