GROHE has turned Milan’s Piccolo Teatro Studio Melato into “Aqua Sanctuary,” a water-centered installation running during Milan Design Week from April 22 to 26. (grohe.com) The installation sits inside the Brera Design District at Via Rivoli 6 and marks the first time the theater has hosted an official design-week installation. Fuorisalone lists public opening hours from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 22-23, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on April 24-25, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on April 26. (fuorisalone.it) GROHE said the project was built in a 72-hour window after the venue’s final curtain call, recasting the theater as an immersive environment around its “Wellbeing through Water” theme. The company describes the show as a journey through three connected “sanctums.” (grohe.com) Those rooms are being used to stage products as part of a spa narrative: Designboom reported displays for the 3D-printed AquaTree, the Atrio Private Collection developed with Caesarstone and Buster + Punch, and the Allure Gravity line with Aqua Tiles. Wallpaper said the installation also includes a “Private Collection” vanity and Grohtherm controls. (designboom.com, wallpaper.com) The venue choice puts a bathroom and wellness brand inside one of Milan’s best-known cultural institutions during the city’s busiest design week. Brera Design District and Fuorisalone both framed the takeover as a “historic first” for Piccolo Teatro Studio Melato. (breradesignweek.it, fuorisalone.it) It also fits a wider pattern in Milan, where brands use temporary architecture and immersive sets to compete for attention beyond furniture fairs and showroom launches. Dezeen’s events guide lists Aqua Sanctuary as one of the week’s installations, while DesignWanted described it as a “meditative counterpoint” to Fuorisalone’s pace. (dezeen.com, designwanted.com) GROHE has been building that Milan presence for several years through its premium GROHE SPA label, and company materials call Aqua Sanctuary its “most ambitious vision to date” in the Brera district. The 2026 edition pushes further into hospitality and self-care language rather than standard bathroom merchandising. (grohe.com, bathroom-review.co.uk) By the end of the week, the project will have done more than launch fittings and finishes: it will have tested whether a working theater can function as a showroom for water, ritual, and rest. In Milan this year, GROHE is betting that the bathroom can be staged like a performance. (wallpaper.com, designwanted.com)
