Hunter x Hunter Game Tops Charts

The official Hunter x Hunter franchise released a new free roguelike game, "Nen x Survivor," which rapidly became the No. 1 free download. The game's instant success signals the enduring popularity of anime-themed games among fans and broader gaming audiences.

The game’s developer is WonderPlanet, a company known for the puzzle game "Crash Fever" and the RPG "Alice Fiction." For "Nen x Survivor," they teamed up with publisher Bushiroad Games, a company that has expanded its portfolio with other anime-based titles. This collaboration aims to deliver a globally accessible mobile gaming experience for the franchise's dedicated fanbase. The success of "Nen x Survivor" comes at a time when the source material, the *Hunter x Hunter* manga, remains on an irregular release schedule. The series' creator, Yoshihiro Togashi, has faced ongoing health issues, leading to frequent and extended hiatuses in the manga's publication since 2006. This scarcity of new story content has amplified fan excitement for other franchise-related projects. In a letter to players, the game's director, Natsume, acknowledged the strong initial reception and addressed early technical bugs that the development team is actively working to fix. He also teased that a "long-awaited major update" and other exciting announcements are scheduled for March, indicating a commitment to ongoing content and support for the new player base. This title follows another recent game release for the franchise, the fighting game "Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact," which launched in the summer of 2025 to a mixed reception. The immediate and positive success of the free-to-play "Nen x Survivor" highlights the powerful appeal of the mobile gaming market for established anime properties.
