LA's March house music calendar is stacked with events featuring Elliot Schooling & Liam Palmer, Bryant Barnes, Omar+, Bullet Tooth & Shermanology, plus Beltran b2b Ben Sterling at LIVLV. Other standouts include Interplanetary Criminal, Nora En Pure, Riva Star, and Lithe across various venues. London's Honey Honey launch party hits Electrowerkz March 13 with DJ Cactushead, Tuff London, and Tuffcub.
The duo of Elliot Schooling & Liam Palmer are bringing their celebrated party brand, Appetite, to Los Angeles. What started as a small basement party in Bristol has exploded into a 7000-capacity festival and a record label, with the "Appetite bros" known for their infectious energy and fresh talent showcases. The LA calendar also boasts a diverse range of house music styles. Interplanetary Criminal, a pioneer in the UK Garage resurgence, is known for producing the chart-topping hit "B.O.T.A. (Baddest of Them All)." Meanwhile, Nora En Pure brings her Swiss-based queen of deep house reputation, known for seamlessly connecting disparate sounds and styles. Riva Starr, an East London-based DJ and producer, is celebrated for his genre-bending instincts and the success of his label, Snatch! Records. Adding to the LA excitement is the back-to-back set from Beltran and Ben Sterling at LIVLV. This pairing is known for delivering high-energy, groove-driven tech-house sets, as demonstrated at major events like Time Warp in New York and Space Miami. Across the Atlantic, London's house scene is buzzing with the launch of the "Honey Honey" party at the iconic Electrowerkz. Housed in a late 19th-century industrial warehouse, Electrowerkz has been a hub for alternative culture since 1987 and is home to Slimelight, the world's longest-running goth night. The "Honey Honey" launch aims to create a warm, welcoming, and community-focused atmosphere. Headlining the London event is DJ Cactushead, also known as Ian Buchan, a veteran of the capital's LGBTQIA+ scene and founder of the legendary pub'n'grub night PiE&MASH. He'll be joined by Tuff London, the UK duo of Ben and Sam who have exploded onto the house and techno scene with a string of chart-topping releases and support from industry heavyweights like Carl Cox. Tuffcub, a DJ and producer of "thumpy tunes," rounds out the lineup. The packed calendars in both cities highlight a thriving global house music scene. London's scene is currently seeing a resurgence of Afro house sounds blended with amapiano, creating a new wave of energy in the underground. This reflects a broader trend in the UK of less rigid sub-genre separation and a melting pot of global influences. Bryant Barnes, another name on the LA lineup, brings a unique background to the house music scene. He initially gained viral fame on TikTok for his piano covers of artists like Mac Miller and Joji, which led to a record deal with Mercury Records. His music blends contemporary R&B, lo-fi, and soul. Meanwhile, Omar+, also performing in LA, is a rising DJ, producer, and vocalist known for blending R&B textures with house-driven energy. With a Rinse FM residency and collaborations with artists like bullet tooth, he is reshaping the sound of the underground.
