Converge Releases New Album
Converge released their 11th studio album "Love Is Not Enough" on February 13, their first new material in five years. The 30-minute album blends hardcore punk, metalcore, and sludge elements with guitarist Kurt Ballou emphasizing the importance of capturing live experience over "data entry" modern metal production. Standout tracks include "We Were Never The Same," "Beyond Repair," and "Make Me Forget You."
- The band's previous studio album, "The Dusk in Us," was released over eight years ago on November 3, 2017, and was met with universal critical acclaim, achieving an average score of 89 out of 100 on Metacritic. - In 2021, the band released "Bloodmoon: I," a collaborative album with singer-songwriter Chelsea Wolfe, which explored a more atmospheric and grandiose sound compared to their typical metallic hardcore. - "Love Is Not Enough" features no guest musicians, a conscious decision to capture the raw energy of the core four-piece lineup that has been consistent since their 2001 album "Jane Doe." - Vocalist and lyricist Jacob Bannon, who also co-runs the independent label Deathwish Inc., created the album's artwork, including a distinct piece for each song. - The members are prolific outside of Converge; bassist Nate Newton is in Old Man Gloom and Cave In, and drummer Ben Koller plays with Mutoid Man and Killer Be Killed. - The band has announced a 2026 tour to support the album, with dates across North America and Europe, including stops at Resurrection Fest in Spain and Outbreak Fest in the UK.
