Raducanu Crushed at Indian Wells

Emma Raducanu exited Indian Wells in disappointing fashion, falling 6-1, 6-1 to Amanda Anisimova in just 52 minutes. Other Round 3 upsets included Karolina Muchova beating Ana Ruzic 6-0 6-3 and Jessica Pegula outlasting Jelena Ostapenko 4-6 6-3 6-2.

The lopsided loss for Raducanu came with stark statistical disparities; she produced only two winners to Anisimova's 21. The American, currently ranked world No. 6, broke Raducanu in five of her seven service games and did not face a single break point herself. This defeat marks a significant reality check for the 2021 US Open champion, who returned to the tour in January after an eight-month layoff for surgeries on both wrists and one ankle. Post-match, Raducanu acknowledged a power deficit, stating top players like Anisimova "have an extra 10 miles an hour on their serve" that creates a noticeable gap. The victory improves Anisimova's head-to-head record against Raducanu to 3-2. Anisimova, a two-time major finalist in 2025 at Wimbledon and the US Open, stated her plan was to be "fearless" and enjoy the match. In other third-round action, No. 5 seed Jessica Pegula extended her current winning streak to seven matches. Her victory over Jelena Ostapenko was her second consecutive comeback win at the tournament, after rallying from a set and a 1-3 deficit in the second set.
