The United States entered the quarterfinal stage of the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup on Tuesday after opening the tournament 3-0 in Berlin, according to FIBA’s official team page. FIBA listed Team USA as first in the world rankings, unbeaten through three games and advanced to the final phase of the tournament. (fiba.basketball) The competition is running from Sept. 4 to Sept. 13 in Berlin, with knockout games beginning this week. USA Basketball announced its 2026 women’s national team on Aug. 6 for the World Cup in Berlin, and later updated the roster on Aug. 31 to add Sonia Citron and Kiki Iriafen. Those announcements came before the tournament opened on Sept. 4. (fiba.basketball) ### Which part of the tournament is Team USA in now? FIBA’s official USA team profile said the Americans were in the quarterfinals with a 3-0 record as of Tuesday. The tournament site separately said the “final phase” had been set, marking the shift from group play to the knockout bracket. The FIBA schedule page listed games from Sept. 8 through Sept. 13 for the knockout rounds. (fiba.basketball) The site did not, in the excerpts available here, show a fresh USA-specific quarterfinal pairing line, but it did show the tournament moving through qualification and quarterfinal dates in Berlin. (usab.com) ### What do the official results show from group play? FIBA’s tournament page showed the United States beating Italy 55-52, China 94-61 and Czechia 105-64 in group-stage play. Those three results matched the 3-0 record shown on the USA team page. Breanna Stewart was identified on FIBA’s USA page as the team’s efficiency leader at 18.0 per game. (fiba.basketball) Jackie Young led the Americans in scoring at 11.3 points per game, while Caitlin Clark led in assists at 6.3 per game, according to the same page. ### Who is on the U.S. roster, and why were fans seeing updates? USA Basketball said on Aug. 6 that it had named the 2026 women’s national team for the World Cup. (fiba.basketball) On Aug. 31, the federation said Citron and Iriafen had been added to the roster ahead of the Sept. 4 start in Berlin. FIBA’s team profile also showed active player leaders including Stewart, Paige Bueckers, Young, Clark, Angel Reese, Rhyne Howard and Iriafen. (fiba.basketball) That combination of official roster news from USA Basketball and live tournament statistics from FIBA helps explain why roster and game-status posts were circulating on social platforms on Tuesday. (fiba.basketball) ### Where should readers look for verified updates instead of social posts? FIBA’s official World Cup site carries the tournament bracket, team pages, live scores and final results. USA Basketball’s official site carries roster announcements and federation updates on the national team. (usab.com) The knockout schedule on FIBA’s site runs through Sept. 13 in Berlin, when the tournament concludes. USA Basketball’s Aug. 31 roster update and FIBA’s live competition pages remain the clearest official sources for the next Team USA update. (usab.com) (fiba.basketball 1) (fiba.basketball 2)
