Aon Appoints New CEO of Risk Capital
Global professional services firm Aon appointed Joe Peiser as the new CEO of its Risk Capital division. In his new role, Peiser will be responsible for leading the company's capabilities across its Commercial Risk and Reinsurance Solutions segments.
- Joe Peiser will report to Andy Marcell, the recently appointed CEO of Global Solutions, who previously held the CEO of Risk Capital title. This reporting structure is part of Aon's broader "Aon United" strategy, which aims to better integrate its Risk Capital (risk and insurance) and Human Capital (health, wealth, and talent) capabilities. - The Risk Capital division Peiser now leads is a significant revenue generator for Aon. For the full year of 2023, Commercial Risk Solutions reported $7.0 billion in revenue, while Reinsurance Solutions brought in $2.5 billion. Reinsurance Solutions saw a notable 10% organic revenue growth in 2023. - Peiser's career before joining Aon in 2021 includes serving as the Global Head of Broking for competitor Willis Towers Watson (WTW). He also has extensive experience in alternative risk financing and client executive roles in major markets like New York, London, and Bermuda. - His appointment comes as the commercial insurance and reinsurance sectors navigate significant challenges, including the increasing frequency of extreme weather events, rising cyber risks, and persistent economic and social inflation impacting claim costs. - The move is aligned with Aon's "3x3 Plan," an acceleration of the Aon United strategy, which focuses on delivering new and integrated solutions for clients facing increasing volatility from issues like climate change and complex supply chains. - Peiser's role will involve close collaboration with Aon Business Services, the company's platform for scaling operational and technology capabilities to deliver analytics-driven solutions to clients more rapidly. - He is a graduate of both Columbia and Oxford Universities and holds an MBA with honors from the Columbia University Graduate School of Business. Outside of his corporate roles, he is on the board of trustees for the All Stars Project, a non-profit that provides mentorship to underprivileged youth.
