Miami Gets Craft Cocktail Spot

"Stormy Monday" just launched in Miami, focusing on refined craft cocktails and soulful vibes. The bar aims to become a local staple for creative drinks, intimate ambiance, and live music, adding to Miami's ever-evolving nightlife scene. It's positioned as a destination for both cocktail enthusiasts and those seeking Instagram-worthy drinking experiences.

This new cocktail spot is a limited-run residency, slated to operate from March 12 through July. Tucked into the former home of the beloved restaurant Macchialina on Alton Road, Stormy Monday will be open five nights a week, from Thursday to Monday, 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. The project is spearheaded by Miami bar veteran James MacInnes, who has shaped beverage programs at local hotspots like KYU, Kaori, and KLAW. He is joined by chef Seth Blumenthal, formerly of the Michelin-starred Le Jardinier, and former MLB All-Star Jason Kipnis, who is a partner in the venture. Named after the classic blues song, the bar aims for a "soulful South Florida sensibility" without pretension. The intimate space is designed for conversation, with only 55 seats, including just 10 at the bar, encouraging guests to linger rather than turning over tables quickly. The cocktail menu prioritizes balance and technique over flashy presentation. Drink highlights include the "Dahlia," made with mezcal, bitter bianco, and smoked red grape, and the "Intercontinental," which features a barrel-aged spirit blend with palm sugar and palo santo. Blumenthal's bar snacks are designed to complement the drinks, with offerings like foie gras xiao long bao and smoked mahi mahi dip served on shokupan. The programming is set to include happy hour specials and live music, positioning the bar as both a neighborhood hangout and an industry destination.
