TECNO to Unveil AI-Powered Phones at MWC
Smartphone brand TECNO is set to unveil its new flagship CAMON 50 Series at MWC 2026 in Barcelona. The launch will focus on an ecosystem of AI-driven products, signaling a deeper push into artificial intelligence for the consumer electronics company. The event will showcase the phone's new imaging and AI capabilities.
This move deepens the AI strategy for TECNO's parent company, Transsion Holdings, which ranked fourth in global smartphone shipments in Q4 2024 with an 8.7% market share. The company has long dominated the African market and is expanding in Southeast Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East. At last year's MWC, TECNO launched the CAMON 40 series, which was powered by MediaTek's Dimensity 8350 Ultimate AI Processor. That lineup emphasized photography with features like a 50MP Sony sensor and "FlashSnap" technology for capturing fast-moving subjects. The upcoming CAMON 50 series will be built on the company's "Practical AI" framework, a strategy introduced in 2024 to create accessible and localized AI applications for emerging markets. In 2025 alone, TECNO's AI, including its Ella assistant, processed over 500 million user requests, with half in non-English languages. New features expected in the CAMON 50 include Super-Zoom FlashSnap for high-speed capture and AI Auto Zoom for intelligent subject framing. This builds on existing AI tools like the Universal Tone technology, developed to represent diverse skin tones accurately, and AI Eraser for removing unwanted objects from photos. Beyond smartphones, the company's AI ecosystem includes MEGABOOK laptops and smart wearables. At MWC 2025, TECNO debuted AI Glasses and the MEGABOOK S14 laptop, signaling its push for a broader, interconnected device network. In a new move, TECNO is also set to announce a strategic partnership with Tonino Lamborghini at the event. The collaboration will feature co-created devices, including a gaming mini-PC and a limited-edition smartphone, blending TECNO's tech with the Italian design brand's aesthetic.
