Shopee ships merchant AI

Shopee rolled out AI tools for Filipino merchants including a Chat AI Assistant to handle customer messages and a Product AI Optimiser to improve listings. Shopee has started rolling out artificial intelligence tools to sellers in the Philippines, aiming them at two repetitive jobs: answering buyer messages and fixing product listings. (rappler.com) The new seller tools include Chat AI Assistant, which handles routine questions such as delivery updates, order status and product availability, and Product AI Optimiser, which helps merchants improve catalog data inside Seller Centre. (rappler.com) (seller.shopee.ph) Shopee’s Philippines seller guides say Chat AI Assistant can answer questions about products, checkout, order details, post-sales issues and shop information, and sellers can test its replies from the platform before turning it on. (seller.shopee.ph 1) (seller.shopee.ph 2) Product AI Optimiser is built around listing cleanup rather than shopper chat. Shopee says sellers can upload size charts and white-background images in bulk so the system can improve product information and size recommendations. (seller.shopee.ph) Shopee is pitching the tools at micro, small and medium enterprises, the merchants that often run stores with a few staff and split time between packing orders, replying to chats and updating listings. Rappler’s April 14 report used New Earth, a local seller, as an example of a small team rotating manual replies before adopting the chat assistant. (rappler.com) The company has been adding more seller-side automation this year. An ABS-CBN report on February 25 said Shopee planned a virtual fitting room and other tools in 2026, including an artificial intelligence product title and description generator and an image enhancer for sellers. (abs-cbn.com) That puts Shopee’s move closer to back-office assistance than to the broader idea of an artificial intelligence shopping agent that chooses and buys products for consumers. City A.M. reported on April 14 that large retail groups are still wrestling with the “last mile” of turning chat-based recommendations into completed purchases on merchant sites. (cityam.com) City A.M. also cited research from information technology firm CI&T saying 64 per cent of British consumers want retailers to use artificial intelligence to improve shopping experiences, while 68 per cent could not name a single artificial intelligence shopping tool that impressed them. (cityam.com) For now, Shopee’s pitch is narrower: let software answer common questions, tidy listings and reduce manual work inside the seller dashboard. That is a more concrete promise than remaking online shopping, and it is one merchants can measure in message volume and time saved. (rappler.com) (seller.shopee.ph)
