Jill Scott Hits No. 1 at R&B Radio
Jill Scott reached No. 1 on R&B radio with 'Pressha', marking a triumphant milestone in her ongoing comeback. This accomplishment speaks to Scott's enduring influence among both longtime fans and new listeners. The success comes after Scott's return to music following a decade-long hiatus from regular releases.
"Pressha" is the second single from Scott's sixth studio album, "To Whom This May Concern," which was released on February 13, 2026. The album is her first full-length project in over a decade, following her 2015 album "Woman," which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The new album features a diverse range of collaborators, including rappers Tierra Whack, Too $hort, and Ab-Soul. The track "Pressha" was co-produced by Scott alongside frequent collaborator Adam Blackstone and Vincent "VT" Tolan. Scott's time away from recording was a conscious choice to focus on her personal life, including raising her son and navigating life changes. She explained the break wasn't due to a creative block but a needed pause to live life, which in turn fueled the emotional honesty of the new record. The path to the top spot saw "Pressha" dethrone Kehlani's single "Folded," accumulating 2,160 spins in the last week of February. On the separate Billboard Adult R&B Airplay chart, Scott's single currently sits at No. 2, just behind Kehlani's track. Lyrically, Scott has described "Pressha" as a commentary on the societal pressure to conform to a certain aesthetic over having genuine character. The recently released music video for the song includes cameos from actors Niecy Nash-Betts, Tasha Smith, and Tyler Lepley. This marks a significant return to the top of the charts for the three-time Grammy winner. Her 2011 single "So in Love" featuring Anthony Hamilton famously spent 14 weeks at No. 1 on the Urban Adult Contemporary Chart, tying a long-held record.
