Bungie pushed Marathon’s mid-season patch live on April 14, adding new systems that pay players for cooperating before they shoot each other. (shacknews.com) Patch 1.0.6 adds the CyberAcme Runner Reinforcement Initiative, or C.A.R.R.I., which gives solo players and full crews CyberAcme Commendations for finishing contracts and extracting together. Players get extra commendations if they leave the map with people outside their original squad. (shacknews.com) The update also adds Mercy Kits, a consumable that lets one player revive a downed enemy, and Rooks now spawn with one by default. Bungie also added a “Stay Together” option that lets strangers who successfully extract form a crew for the next run. (polygon.com) Marathon is a team-based extraction shooter, which means players drop into Tau Ceti, grab loot, finish contracts, and lose their backpack if they die before extraction. Bungie launched the game on March 5, 2026, so this patch lands about six weeks into Season 1. (marathonthegame.com) (bungie.net) Seasons in Marathon run about three months, according to Bungie, and Season 1 began on March 5. Bungie’s March 3 season roadmap said the season would add ranked play, the Cryo Archive zone, expanded implants, a new weapon, and the C.A.R.R.I. event before the next reset. (bungie.net) Patch 1.0.6 also adds 11 new blue-rarity “deluxe” weapon variants that drop from Showcase encounters on Perimeter and Dire Marsh. Bungie increased faction reputation and runner experience for solo players, and increased faction reputation from contracts for all players. (ign.com) Recon, one of Marathon’s runner shells, got some of the biggest class changes in the patch. Echo Pulse now distinguishes player runners from United Earth Space Council targets, Signal Jammers no longer fully block pings, and Tracker Drone got stronger movement and better target checks. (polygon.com) Bungie also reworked early progression on Perimeter, the beginner map. It is now solos-only up to Seasonal Level 12, and players under Level 12 get five new Perimeter contracts plus optional CyberAcme contracts built for first runs. (shacknews.com) The weapon balance pass reaches beyond the new loot. IGN and Shacknews both highlighted Railgun buffs, a Bully submachine gun nerf, and major reductions to the Biotoxic Disinjector, alongside changes to shells, equipment, and season pass rewards. (ign.com) (shacknews.com) For now, Bungie is trying to make Marathon’s harsh extraction loop a little more social without removing the risk that defines it. Patch 1.0.6 keeps the rule that dead runners lose their haul, but it gives more players a reason to leave Tau Ceti together. (marathonthegame.com) (shacknews.com)
