Gate.io Rolls Out AI Agent Infrastructure

Crypto exchange Gate.io has launched a new infrastructure layer that allows AI agents to access exchange trading, on-chain data, and wallet operations through a single interface. The platform is designed for automated trading desks, enabling bots to integrate market data and execute trades in a more streamlined and compliant manner.

Gate.io's new "Gate for AI" is the industry's first unified portal integrating centralized exchange (CEX), decentralized exchange (DEX), wallet, real-time news, and on-chain data capabilities under a single interface. This allows AI agents to move beyond simple data queries to execute complete workflows from market analysis and risk assessment to trade execution on one platform. The system features a dual-layer "MCP + Skills" architecture. The MCP (Machine Communication Protocol) layer provides standardized interfaces for core functions like market data and trade execution, while the "Skills" layer offers more advanced, pre-packaged strategy modules for complex decision-making. This design aims to lower the barrier for developers to integrate with mainstream AI systems like ChatGPT and Claude. Unlike simulated environments, "Gate for AI" connects directly to the exchange's live matching engine and risk control framework. This ensures that every action taken by an AI agent is executed in the real market, providing production-grade infrastructure for automated trading. As part of this AI-driven push, Gate.io has also launched a no-code quantitative trading platform. This tool enables users to create and deploy trading strategies using natural language, which the platform then converts into executable strategies after backtesting against historical data. This infrastructure launch aligns with Gate.io's broader strategy of enhancing its regulatory and compliance framework. The company recently secured a Payment Institution license in Malta, allowing it to offer regulated services across the EU. Additionally, Gate.io has partnered with blockchain analytics firm Elliptic to bolster its anti-money laundering and compliance monitoring capabilities. To encourage adoption, Gate.io has initiated an "MCP Challenge" with a prize pool of 3,000 GT to crowdsource innovative use cases for the new AI Agent infrastructure. The company also expanded its existing "GateAI" assistant to include functions like account management and personalized recommendations.
