The CFP Management Committee named Dr. Bryan Maggard, Gus Malzahn and Jeff Tedford to three‑year selection‑committee terms starting this spring, replacing Chris Ault, Jeff Long and David Sayler. ( collegefootballplayoff.com ) Malzahn retired in February after serving as Florida State’s offensive coordinator and closes a 35‑year coaching career that included 13 seasons as an FBS head coach and a 105‑62 head‑coaching record. ( espn.com ) His résumé also lists a 2010 national title as Auburn’s offensive coordinator, one national championship game appearance as a head coach, three conference championships and eight conference‑championship game appearances. ( espn.com ) CFP executive director Rich Clark said the new additions will “introduce strong, fresh perspectives” as the playoff enters its 13th season, and the Management Committee extended University of Arkansas AD Hunter Yurachek’s term as selection‑committee chair through the 2026 football season. ( collegefootballplayoff.com ) Yurachek first assumed the chair role on Nov. 13, 2025, after Baylor AD Mack Rhoades stepped down midseason, and the committee operated with 12 members during the 2025 cycle following Randall McDaniel’s recent departure. ( espn.com ) Maggard — in his 10th year as Louisiana’s vice president for intercollegiate athletics with 20 Sun Belt titles and a $30 million fundraising year in 2021‑22 — and Tedford, who owns a 127‑79 career record and is Cal’s winningest coach, join a committee that already includes former coaches such as Mark Dantonio and Mike Riley.
