Trust Stamp to Advise Nigeria on Digital ID

Identity solutions provider Trust Stamp announced it is in strategic discussions with Nigeria’s National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA). The potential partnership aims to strengthen the nation's digital trust framework by integrating privacy-focused biometric solutions into its expanding digital economy.

- The Director General of Nigeria's NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, views "Digital Trust" as the foundational currency for the nation's digital economy. The partnership with Trust Stamp is framed as a strategic move to build core national infrastructure, not just to procure a new technology. - Trust Stamp's core technology creates an "Irreversibly Transformed Identity Token" (IT2) from biometric data. This process avoids storing raw biometric images or templates, instead creating an anonymized token used for matching, which directly addresses data privacy concerns. - This initiative complements the work of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), which manages the foundational National Identification Number (NIN).
