Anduril bulks up in SoCal

Anduril Technologies has leased roughly 1.5 million square feet across Costa Mesa and Santa Ana and is developing a roughly $1 billion campus in Long Beach slated to open mid‑2027. That expansion represents sizeable tech/defense demand in the LA basin industrial market. (x.com) (x.com)

Anduril is rapidly expanding its Southern California footprint, adding nearly 1.5 million square feet in Orange County while building a new Long Beach campus due to open in mid-2027. (anduril.com) (ocbj.com) The company said in January that it will invest about $1 billion in a 1.18 million-square-foot campus spanning Long Beach and Lakewood, with six buildings, 750,000 square feet of office space and 435,000 square feet for industrial research and development. (anduril.com) (gov.ca.gov) Anduril said the Long Beach site will support about 5,500 direct jobs at full capacity, while its headquarters stays in Costa Mesa. Orange County Business Journal reported that Anduril already leases close to 1.5 million square feet of office and warehouse space in Costa Mesa and Santa Ana, including projects under construction. (anduril.com) (ocbj.com) Anduril builds autonomous military systems, including drones, software and sensors, for the United States and allied forces. The company said the California expansion is meant to increase capacity as demand rises from the United States military and partner countries. (anduril.com 1) (anduril.com 2) The move adds a large defense tenant to an industrial market better known for ports, logistics and aerospace suppliers. Long Beach Mayor Rex Richardson said the project fits the city’s manufacturing and naval history, and Governor Gavin Newsom called it part of California’s aerospace and defense base. (anduril.com) (gov.ca.gov) The California build-out comes after Anduril committed more than $900 million to Arsenal-1, a 5 million-square-foot manufacturing complex in Pickaway County, Ohio. That project is designed for large-scale production, while the Long Beach campus is planned as a mix of offices, labs and industrial research space. (anduril.com 1) (anduril.com 2) Investors have been funding that growth. Anduril raised $2.5 billion in June 2025 at a $30.5 billion valuation, according to Reuters and CNBC. (usnews.com) (cnbc.com) The company was founded in 2017 and moved into a larger Orange County headquarters in 2020. With the Long Beach campus scheduled to come online in mid-2027, Anduril is turning the Los Angeles basin into one of its main centers for engineering, research and defense production.
