NYC: nine Michelin additions teased

Michelin has teased nine new restaurant additions in New York ahead of this year’s Michelin ceremony, with Brooklyn leading the list of places to watch. (Eater NY ). Separately, Michelin’s U.S. expansion now touches the Great Lakes with suggestions that Indianapolis could be included in the guide’s footprint. (INDYtoday ).

Michelin added nine New York City restaurants to its 2026 guide on April 15, with Brooklyn claiming five of the new spots. (guide.michelin.com, fox5ny.com) The new Brooklyn entries are Entre Nous and Los Burritos Juárez in Clinton Hill, Bong in Crown Heights, Vato in Park Slope, and I Cavallini in Williamsburg. Manhattan’s four additions are Le Chêne in Greenwich Village, Hwaro in Midtown West, Elcielo New York in NoMad, and Cove in SoHo. (guide.michelin.com, timeout.com) Michelin adds restaurants to the New York selection twice a year, while stars and Bib Gourmands are held back for the annual ceremony later in 2026. Restaurants marked “New” are already on inspectors’ radar and can be promoted later. (guide.michelin.com, fox5ny.com) Michelin says its inspectors judge restaurants on product quality, mastery of cooking, harmony of flavors, the chef’s voice, and consistency across visits. The company also says inspectors dine anonymously and pay their own way. (fox5ny.com, guide.michelin.com) The April list also shows how much of New York’s current momentum sits outside Manhattan. Five of the nine additions are in Brooklyn neighborhoods including Clinton Hill, Crown Heights, Park Slope, and Williamsburg. (fox5ny.com, timeout.com) Several of the new entries also come with Michelin-adjacent pedigrees. Vato is from the team behind Manhattan one-star restaurant Corima, I Cavallini is the sibling to Williamsburg’s Michelin-starred The Four Horsemen, and Elcielo arrives with Michelin-starred counterparts in Washington and Miami. (guide.michelin.com, timeout.com) At the same time, Michelin is widening its United States map beyond the coasts. On April 8, Michelin announced a new American Great Lakes edition covering Cleveland, Detroit, Indianapolis, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, and Pittsburgh. (michelinmedia.com, guide.michelin.com) Michelin said its anonymous inspectors have already begun scouting those six cities, and the first full American Great Lakes selection will be revealed in 2027. That gives Indianapolis its first formal path into Michelin’s ratings system. (michelinmedia.com, axios.com) For New York restaurants, the nine additions are not awards yet. They are the clearest public signal before the 2026 ceremony that Michelin’s inspectors are already narrowing in on where the city’s next stars and Bib Gourmands could land.
