Pomona Swap Meet & Classic Car Show Takes Place

The Pomona Swap Meet & Classic Car Show was held today at the Pomona Fairplex. The event brought together classic car enthusiasts and collectors to buy, sell, and trade automobiles and auto parts.

The Pomona Swap Meet is a long-standing tradition for automotive enthusiasts, dating back to its first event on August 3, 1975. It was founded by George W. Cross III, a classic car enthusiast who saw the need for a centralized location for collectors to find and sell parts for their restoration projects. The first meet was organized with a modest $100 advertising budget and a handful of vendors. What started as a small gathering quickly grew into a massive event. The first swap meet in 1975 successfully drew 4,200 people. Today, each of the seven annual events attracts over 30,000 attendees to the Fairplex in Pomona. The event has become the largest of its kind on the West Coast, featuring over 2,700 vendor spaces and stretching over 15 miles. The swap meet is known for its vast and diverse selection of classic cars, parts, and memorabilia. Attendees can find everything from antique and hot rod vehicles to Corvettes, Porsches, and Volkswagens. Beyond complete cars, vendors sell a massive array of hard-to-find parts and accessories for a wide variety of makes and models. The event is more than just a marketplace; it's a cultural gathering for the classic car community. Enthusiasts come not only to buy and sell but also to share their passion and knowledge with fellow collectors. The show often features specific car corrals for different makes and models, allowing for a focused and immersive experience for attendees.
