Intracom Telecom Unveils AI for Telcos

Intracom Telecom is showcasing uni|MS™ AI, a new platform that uses AI to enable autonomous operations for telecom networks. The system is designed to help operators manage fixed wireless access (FWA) and transmission more efficiently.

The push for AI in network management comes as telecom operators face rising network complexity and operational costs. AI-driven operations can reduce total network operating expenses by an estimated 15% to 30% through predictive maintenance and dynamic energy consumption optimization. Intracom Telecom, founded in 1977, has a long history of participating in major telecommunications projects and invests a significant portion of its revenue into R&D. The company has evolved from manufacturing telecom equipment in Greece to a global systems and solutions provider with over 1,800 employees. The new AI capabilities are built upon Intracom's existing uni|MS™ platform, which is already a proven Network Lifecycle Management system. A 2025 upgrade boosted the platform's capacity by 65%, allowing it to manage up to 1 million Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) devices from a single server. The uni|MS™ AI specifically aims to enable self-healing networks by identifying potential faults before customers are aware of an issue. An existing AI application for the platform already demonstrated the ability to reduce energy consumption for wireless backhaul links by up to 30% by intelligently managing power-saving modes. This focus on Fixed Wireless Access is timely, as FWA is one of the most successful use cases for 5G technology. As of May 2024, 493 operators in 176 countries had launched commercial FWA services to provide high-speed internet where fiber-optic cables are too expensive to deploy. The global FWA market is projected to grow from USD 43.47 billion in 2026 to USD 84.37 billion by 2031. This rapid expansion increases the need for automated management systems to handle network traffic, monitor service quality, and ensure reliability without scaling up human operational teams.
