Augur Raises $15M Seed
Augur, based in London, has raised a $15M seed round to convert surveillance cameras in transport hubs, stadiums, and power stations into real-time intelligence. The funding underscores the growing demand for AI-powered video analytics in public safety and security.
Augur's $15 million seed round was led by Plural, a London-based VC firm focused on defense tech, with participation from First Kind, Flix, Tiny VC, and SNR. The funding will be used to expand deployments across Europe and further develop Augur's AI platform. Augur aims to grow its London team and integrate with more sensors and systems common in European infrastructure. The company's AI doesn't use facial recognition, instead tracking anonymized behavior and movement patterns to maintain privacy while delivering operational capabilities. Augur's technology supports the full incident cycle, from early warning signs to post-event investigation. CEO Harry Mead, formerly of safety app Path, founded Augur with ex-Palantir reliability engineers Imran Lone and Stefan Kopieczek. Augur's focus on critical infrastructure comes as "grey-zone" attacks and sabotage are on the rise across Europe. The platform is designed to help operators spot warning signs earlier and make better use of existing infrastructure. This aligns with the UK's Martyn's Law, mandating security upgrades for public venues.
