New Waterfront Restaurant Coming to SF
Hi Neighbor Hospitality Group, the team behind San Francisco restaurants Trestle and Vault, will open a new restaurant on the waterfront in the city's China Basin neighborhood. The group is also launching a new wine bar concept named Big Finish SF, which will feature a late-night kitchen.
- The new, yet-to-be-named restaurant will be located at 185 Berry Street in Mission Bay, directly across from Oracle Park. It is situated within the China Basin development and will offer views of the Mission Creek channel. - The 4,400-square-foot space is being designed by architect Cass Calder Smith, known for his work on other San Francisco restaurants like Hog Island Oyster Co. and La Mar. Plans include floor-to-ceiling retractable windows, a lounge, reservable fire pits, and both indoor and outdoor seating to create a seamless connection to the waterfront. - Hi Neighbor Hospitality's Executive Chef Jason Halverson will oversee the menu, which is described as a "fine dining–caliber experience" that will be refined but not "over-the-top" and designed for sharing. The restaurant also plans to eventually add a cafe to the space. - The hospitality group, led by partners Ryan Cole, Tai Ricci, Jason Halverson, and Lucas Bierbower, currently operates six Bay Area restaurants, including the Michelin-starred 7 Adams and Michelin Bib Gourmand recipient Trestle. - The restaurant is part of a major influx of development in the Mission Bay and China Basin area, which includes the Mission Rock mixed-use campus and the new five-acre China Basin Park that opened in April 2024. - Big Finish SF is a separate, already-opened wine tavern located in the Mission District. It features over 50 wines by the glass, many served on tap to ensure quality and reduce waste, alongside a full dinner menu available until midnight.
