Tiler Peck’s Sadler’s Wells mashup

On March 14, Tiler Peck’s 'Turn It Out with Tiler Peck & Friends' at Sadler’s Wells mixed ballet, Michelle Dorrance tap, electronic music and lights — critics praised its technical precision and high energy event post.

The Sadler’s Wells programme presented four distinct works — William Forsythe’s The Barre Project (Blake Works II), Peck’s Thousandth Orange (live music), Alonzo King’s Swift Arrow and the finale Time Spell co-choreographed with Michelle Dorrance and Jillian Meyers. (sadlerswells.com) The Barre Project used an electronic score by James Blake and was originally created for film, a piece that marked Peck’s first creative partnership with William Forsythe. (broadwayworld.com) Thousandth Orange was performed to live music by Pulitzer Prize–winning composer Caroline Shaw, who is credited on the Sadler’s Wells programme. (sadlerswells.com) The billed company mixed New York City Ballet principals and guest artists, including Lex Ishimoto, Roman Mejia, Brooklyn Mack, Jovani Furlan, Lauren Lovette and tap artist Michelle Dorrance. (sadlerswells.com) Audience reaction was emphatic: Bachtrack reported cheering and a standing ovation for the collaborative Time Spell on the London run. (bachtrack.com) The Sadler’s Wells engagement ran 13–14 March with tickets advertised from £15 and a running time of 1 hour 55 minutes (including two 20-minute intervals), following a sold-out world premiere in New York and the show’s hit Sadler’s Wells season in 2023.
