New Strategy Games Hit Steam This Week

This week's strategy releases include Cards and Castles Ultimate, WEGO World War II: Overlord, and Chess of Mana, plus Warhammer 40K DLC expansions. Upcoming tactical titles like Cold War Battles and WH40K: Rogue Trader DLC are generating significant hype among turn-based fans. The Mythic Crusade demo is also now available for hands-on testing.

*Cards and Castles Ultimate*, the third installment in the series, introduces a new "graveyard" system that allows players to resurrect defeated units. The game also adds dual-color cards for potent combinations and map objectives to add new layers of strategy beyond direct combat. *WEGO World War II: Overlord*, developed by Brian Kelly and published by Matrix Games, is a hex-based wargame built on the engine of the *Desert War* and *Stalingrad* titles. The game features 14 historical scenarios, including a comprehensive 135-turn campaign that recreates the entire Normandy invasion. *Chess of Mana* puts a twist on the classic board game by introducing a magical resource called Mana. This allows players to revive their captured pieces, creating opportunities for dramatic turnarounds and new tactical possibilities. The game also offers a traditional chess mode for purists, enhanced with unique pixel art visuals. The DLC for the well-received 2021 strategy game *Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector* introduces the Black Legion as a new playable faction. This expansion adds 15 new Chaos Space Marine units, including Chaos Terminators, Havocs, and various Daemon Engines. The upcoming DLC for *Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader* is titled "The Infinite Museion." This expansion centers on the Necron Overlord Trazyn the Infinite and will add a new questline, a new companion, and a strategic "implants" mechanic for players to utilize. The hyped tactical title, *Cold War Battles*, is a turn-based, hex-and-counter wargame from developer Kudos Games. It will feature over 200 units and cover both historical and hypothetical conflicts between 1945 and 1990, with a planned release in the third quarter of 2026.
