Skye Air Raises $9M for Drone Logistics
Indian drone logistics platform Skye Air Mobility secured $9M Series B to expand hyperlocal drone delivery in major cities.
The $9 million Series B funding for Skye Air Mobility was led by IAN Group's IAN Alpha Fund, with participation from AVNM Ventures, Faad Capital, and Bajaj Capital. The funding is structured in two tranches: $4 million (Series B1) and $5 million (Series B2). Skye Air will use the funds to deepen its AI stack, integrate its drone operations with its Skye UTM (Unmanned Traffic Management) platform, and connect AI-powered ground robotics for a seamless delivery chain. They also plan to expand beyond Delhi-NCR to major metropolitan areas like Bengaluru, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, and Kolkata within the next 18 months. Skye Air uses a "hub-pod-walker" model, combining aerial drones with ground-based logistics for hyperlocal deliveries. Drones deliver packages to Skye Pods, and "walkers" complete the final delivery to customers. Since starting commercial operations in 2023, Skye Air has completed 3.6 million autonomous deliveries and saved over 1,000 tonnes of CO2. Their drones can carry payloads up to 10 kg, serving e-commerce, healthcare, and industrial supply chains. Clients include Blue Dart Express, Shiprocket, Flipkart, Tata 1MG, and Zepto. Skye Air faces competition from companies like Airbound, Redwing, Zipline, Flytrex and Manna Drone Delivery. The Indian drone market is projected to reach $3.23 billion by 2030, with the delivery drone segment growing rapidly.
