CompTIA Launches AI Cybersecurity Certification
Technology certification body CompTIA has introduced a new professional certification, SecAI+. It is the organization's first Expansion Series certification and focuses on the skills required to both defend against and leverage artificial intelligence technologies in modern cybersecurity environments.
- The SecAI+ exam (CY0-001) will consist of a maximum of 60 multiple-choice and performance-based questions, which must be completed in 60 minutes. - CompTIA recommends candidates have three to four years of IT experience, with at least two of those years in a hands-on cybersecurity role. Equivalent certifications such as Security+, CySA+, or PenTest+ are also suggested. - The certification is vendor-neutral, designed to validate skills across various AI platforms, cloud providers, and development frameworks rather than focusing on a single vendor's technology. - Exam domains include Securing AI Systems (40% of the exam), AI Governance, Risk, and Compliance (19%), and Basic AI Concepts Related to Cybersecurity (17%). - This certification is the first in CompTIA's "Expansion Series," which is designed to add advanced, role-specific skills on top of existing certifications like Security+. - Future certifications planned for the Expansion Series include PenTest AI+, CySA AI+, Data AI+, and AI SysOp+, targeting different technology roles. - The credential validates skills for mid-career professionals, such as security engineers and SOC analysts, who are responsible for securing AI systems and using AI tools in security operations.
