Apple Puts M4 Chip in New iPad Air
Apple has introduced a new iPad Air powered by the M4 chip, bringing enhanced AI performance for creative tasks like editing and rendering to its mid-range tablet. The update, which also includes more memory, aims to broaden the base of hardware capable of sophisticated on-device AI workflows.
The M4 chip's Neural Engine is a significant leap, capable of 38 trillion operations per second (TOPS), a stark contrast to the M2's 15.8 TOPS. This raw power is aimed squarely at accelerating on-device AI tasks, enabling creative professionals to work with more complex models and larger datasets directly on their tablet.
