Bills Trade for Bears WR DJ Moore
The Buffalo Bills have agreed to acquire Chicago Bears wide receiver DJ Moore in a trade that's still being finalized. Moore adds a proven playmaker to Buffalo's receiving corps as they strengthen their offense for the 2026 season. The deal is expected to significantly impact both teams' offensive strategies moving forward.
To acquire Moore, the Buffalo Bills sent a 2026 second-round draft pick to the Chicago Bears. In addition to Moore, Buffalo also received a 2026 fifth-round selection from Chicago. The trade reunites Moore with new Bills head coach Joe Brady. Brady served as the offensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers in 2020 and 2021, where Moore recorded over 1,100 receiving yards in both seasons. During their two years together, Moore amassed 2,350 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. Buffalo will absorb the remainder of Moore's four-year, $110 million contract extension he signed with the Bears. His base salaries for 2026 and 2027, both $23.5 million, are fully guaranteed, and the Bills are also guaranteeing $15.5 million of his 2028 salary. Moore's 2025 campaign with the Bears was a statistical down year, as he posted a career-low 682 receiving yards on 50 catches, though he did score seven touchdowns. His reduced output was attributed in part to a run-heavy offense and a target share that increasingly went to younger players like Rome Odunze and Colston Loveland. The move addresses a significant area of need for the Bills, who lacked consistent production from their wide receivers during the 2025 season. Outside of Khalil Shakir, who led the team in receiving, the Bills' pass-catchers struggled to provide a consistent threat for quarterback Josh Allen. For the Bears, the trade frees up $16.5 million in salary cap space and signals a commitment to their youth movement at wide receiver. The offense will now feature recent draft picks Rome Odunze and Luther Burden III as primary targets for quarterback Caleb Williams.
